The Retail Therapy prints are kin to, but separate from, the series of paintings bearing the same title. They result from the following process: fragments of cut up plastic carrier bags are improvised into informal arrangements on the scanner. No adhesive is used, the image being simply scanned into the computer. The physical collage lasts only for the duration of the scan. The prints are therefore collage based but, paradoxically, contain no actual collage. I then develop the pieces by using Photoshop as an improvisational tool, in effect a digital toybox, to try things and see what happens. This process has resulted in arriving at, I'm not always certain how, alternative versions of some images. If I like them I keep them, if I don't, I don't.
